Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of AskGWINnett. By using the site, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use AskGWINnett.
Not an official county service
AskGWINnett is an independent civic information project. It is not operated by Gwinnett County government and is not an official channel for filings, payments, emergency services, or legal notice. For authoritative answers, confirm with gwinnettcounty.com or the relevant county department.
What AskGWINnett is
AskGWINnett is a chat interface that looks up public information (property, parks, meetings, millage, elections guidance, traffic, weather, and similar topics) and may use artificial intelligence to summarize tool results in plain language. Nearby restaurant and shopping suggestions use Google Places and are labeled as such.
AI answers can be wrong
Answers may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Tool results and source links are meant to help you verify. Do not rely on AskGWINnett alone for tax payments, legal deadlines, voting eligibility, emergencies, or other high-stakes decisions.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use AskGWINnett for anything illegal, or to harass, threaten, or impersonate anyone.
- Attempt to overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, or bypass rate limits or security controls.
- Probe the service for vulnerabilities without permission.
- Use the service to build a competing product by systematically copying its outputs.
We may suspend or limit access if we believe these terms have been violated or the service is being abused.
Third-party services
AskGWINnett depends on other companies and public data sources (hosting, AI providers, Google Places, county GIS, GDOT, NWS, and others). We don’t control those services and aren’t responsible for their outages, delays, or errors, though we’ll do our best to work around them.
The service is provided “as is”
AskGWINnett is offered on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including any implied warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or fit for a particular purpose. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, AskGWINnett and its operator won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including reliance on an incorrect answer, missed deadline, or lost data — arising from your use of the service. Because AskGWINnett is provided free of charge, total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount (if any) you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Privacy
How we handle information is described in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
Ownership
The AskGWINnett name, branding, and the service itself belong to the operator. Using the service doesn’t give you ownership over it — just permission to use it for personal, non-commercial civic information purposes.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We’ll post the current version here and update the “Last updated” date below when we make material changes. Continuing to use AskGWINnett after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
